Day 07 Manaslu Trek Itinerary

Gumba Lundang Tsum Valley
Ganesh Himal Range as seen from premises of Gumba Lundang during my Manaslu Circuit and Tsum Valley Trek
Forgive me I’m confused about day itinerary and merge Day 6 and Day 7 activities on same Day 6. This Day 7 Manaslu trek itinerary is supposed to be 8 I apologize. We start from Chekampar after breakfast. We descend down to Dumje. It was another mistake lol cause it is supposed to descend left from trail by Chorten all the way down cause it will be more easier to find trail to Gumba Lundang. Now we are on middle of no where is Dumje. We can’t find the bridge to cross the river and there are no bodies out on the area to ask cause it is kind of temporary settlement of local people from Rupchet and Chumling. After wandering for a while I saw a local people out on field next to river and I descend down to riverbank same did the local people. We are shouting out very loud as we was explaining me the way. I turn toward Frank now and explained about bridge shifted to new place little above. We hike up east passing through fields and found wooden bridge out there to cross. Now we found a major trail that lead uphill all the way toward Gumba Lundang. Probably this is the most isolated place on Tsum. Trail passes all the way through jungle. Trail was very good and we can see monastery on middle of jungle pretty far. We walk all the way to monastery area. We reach a monastery premises and try to go the middle of courtyard suddenly one old monk stood up and start shouting – go back came here making a clockwise direction. Fuck we step backward and make a rotation of monastery and came in the middle of courtyard from next side. We sat down talk for a while with old monks and let them know we were hungry. She cooked Dal Bhat and we had it. There was no room to sleep instead monk point us on corridor of monastery. She provide us thin mattress that’s it. We settle on two end of corridor leave our backpack there. Just couple of minutes on east of Gumba Lundang there was another small isolated monastery. We decide to walk there and explore the territory. There was one single monk she asks us whether we want to go inside the monastery and we said yes she open the door we enter but she ask for money to take the picture. Unfortunately we had leaved everything on backpack at monastery corridor so we explain her we will back after a while but she turns out rude and scolds us and closes the monastery door. It was very bad actually and kind of rude as well. We return back to our deluxe room and stay on warm sunlight. Don’t forget insect repelling spray, as there is lots of flying insect like bee and sometimes bite you. We stop for a while and soon monks invite us for evening praying ceremony. It was very delightful experience with music and rhymes. We slept on our respective portion of corridor. Late night I need to go out for a pee I wake up and try to open the main door of monastery suddenly out of my expectation a big black dog that was tied on courtyard was set free for whole night came in front of door and start to barking at me. Sweet Jesus I return back and wrap me with sleeping bag again for rest of the night.

Accommodation Gumba Lundang
My accommodation in Gumba Lundang – It is corridor on big monastery with big wooden window frame absence of windowpane.
P.S. Carry at least few hundred of Nepali Currency who knows you might be interested taking picture inside monastery and always make sure you don’t need to go toilet once you go off for sleep in Gumba Lundang.
